Student Driver Expectations

Please read carefully and retain the following expectations for reference during the year. Students who fail to uphold these expectations by continuously failing to display their permit, parking in the incorrect lot, or someone else’s space will be subject to following up which may result in a car being towed at the owner’s expense or parking privileges being revoked.

PERMITS

  • Students who drive to school will not be allowed to park in school lots unless they have purchased parking permits and have them on display in their cars.
  • Any car parked in a school lot without a current permit on display may be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Permits must be visible from the outside of the car.
  • Parking permits are specific to the lot to which the student has been assigned.
  • Student drivers are responsible for making sure that the correct car and license plate number are on file and attached to the permit they have been issued.
  • Any permitted driver who drives recklessly in or near a school parking lot may result in loss of parking privileges, towing or both.
  • Parking permits are intended for student use not parent use.
  • Parking permits are available for purchase on an annual basis only.
  • Refunds for returned permits will only be given if requested on or before September 5, 2025.

CARPOOLS

  • Carpools will only be issued one permit to the student on file as the permit holder.
  • Permits may be transferred between cars in a carpool. Permits are designed to hang from the rearview mirror for convenience in transferring them between cars.
  • Carpool members are responsible for making sure the permit is in the car that is parked on campus on any given day.
  • All cars being used in a carpool must be on file with the school prior to parking in a school-managed garage or lot.
  • The permit holder is responsible for communicating all guidelines to those in their carpool. Communications from the school will go to the permit holder only.

PARKING ASSIGNMENTS

  • Parking permits are specific to the lot to which the student has been assigned; cars may not be driven between lots and parked under one permit in different parking lots.
  • Any permitted driver who continuously parks in a lot they have not been assigned to may have their permit revoked.
  • The Madison garage and the Copy Mart lot have numbered spaces. Students will be assigned to a specific space at these two locations and can only park in their assigned spaces.
  • DO NOT park in someone else’s parking space if your space is occupied. Instead, reach out to transportation@seattleacademy.org who will help you find an alternate location.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS

  • Seattle Academy and/or our parking lot lease partners are not responsible in any way for damage to or loss of your vehicle or its contents.
  • Seattle Academy reserves the right to notify student drivers in advance of any days when parking will not be allowed in school lots.
  • Parking permits are for parking from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, except otherwise notified.
  • Parking for school-sponsored after-school activities and events will be on a first-come-first-served basis. If you have a permit to park in a lot during the school day, you may leave your car there for a school-sponsored after-school activity unless otherwise notified; otherwise your car must be moved by 3:30 PM.

Please be good neighbors. How we drive and park is a very visible aspect of our presence in the community.

Please report any concerns to our Safety Line (206-676-6868) or to transportation@seattleacademy.org.
