TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT

We are looking for a highly skilled Transportation Assistant to join our team to partner with the Transportation Manager to meet the transportation needs of all the school’s constituents. They will support all phases of the Transportation program including the execution of the school’s Mission and Goals.

Successful candidates must possess a CDL with Medical Certificate and a high school diploma or GED, have experience with busses (preferably within a school district), be knowledgeable of traffic laws and have a clean driving record.  

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $65,000 and will start as soon as possible once the final candidate has passed their reference and background check. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the smooth start to the school’s transportation day by fielding morning substitute driver calls.
  • Backup Driver - Fill in for all routes when needed.
  • Scan students in upon arrival and help facilitate bus drop and pick rotation as needed
  • Perform pre and post trip checks on buses as required
  • Make sure buses are clean and presentable
  • Perform maintenance checks on buses and SAAS vehicles and report any needs for repairs
  • Help facilitate athletics/field trip pick up and drop off
  • Help with traffic flow as needed
  • Drive campus shuttle
  • Drive for school functions and field trips as needed
Requirements for the position:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of integrity, flexibility, collaboration, and transparency in the workplace.

  • Must be able to pass random mandatory drug tests.
  • Must consistently show professionalism with faculty, students, parents, and neighbors.
  • Possess the ability to show positive temperament in stressful or intense situations.
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the position i.e. walking about campus, lifting up to 50lbs or working 8+ hour days at times.
  • Able to responsibly manage some of their time autonomously.
  • Able to work weekends as required.
  • Must be dependable and responsible.
  • Operate under the idea that safety is the highest priority.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading and speaking.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to impromptu changes.
  • Basic computer skills are desirable.
