Biography: Kristel, the Middle School Learning Specialist at Seattle Academy, originates from Southern California, where she enjoyed childhood activities such as mountain biking and ocean exploration. Her educational background encompasses a history degree from California State University, a Masters in Teaching, and an endorsement in Special Education, all of which are integral to her role at SAAS. Kristel's educational journey has seen her transition from an outdoor educator at the Ocean Institute teaching marine biology, history, and environmental science to becoming a Middle School English and History teacher at Westside School in Seattle, and later a Special Education teacher at White Center Heights Elementary School. Her interests in yoga, hiking, and reading harmonize with SAAS programs and trips, nurturing student development, wellness, and outdoor engagement.
