Biography: Hi! I’m Ray (she/her), I taught Visual Art at SAAS last year as a full-time sub, and I’m excited to be officially joining SAAS’s Visual Art Faculty this fall. I grew up in Ellensburg, one of few weird art kids in a rodeo town. Accordingly, I fled to the east coast moments after graduating to pursue my BA in Studio Arts at Bard College, and later, an MFA at SFAI. I moved back to Seattle 8 years ago, and have since balanced my focus between my studio practice (figurative paintings about the blunders of western history), teaching (Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, Seattle University, Gage, BAM, Bellevue School District), family, safety-obsessed whitewater paddling, strange foods, laughter, and tinkering with broken stuff. I look forward to another great year at SAAS!
