Biography: Hi there! My name is Alex Rouse, and I am excited to be joining the SAAS community! I grew up in Indianapolis, IN, attended Purdue University, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to do an AmeriCorps program called City Year working full time in schools. I first fell in love with the city of Seattle after a cross-country cycling trip that started in Rhode Island and concluded at Golden Gardens in 2011. I started my career teaching middle school English in San Jose, CA and moved to Seattle in 2017 to teach high school English at Summit Sierra in the International District. After my cohort of students graduated in 2020, I spent the past two years in my hometown teaching middle school in Indianapolis Public Schools. I am beyond thrilled to be returning to Seattle and joining such an impressive and collaborative team here as SAAS.
