Biography: Matt joined Seattle Academy in the summer of 2024 as the Outdoor Trips and Travel Director. He earned his M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and a B.S. in Adventure Education from Green Mountain College. Matt has worked in the outdoor education profession for more than 15 years as an instructor, guide, trainer, and administrator with Outward Bound and the National Outdoor Leadership School. It was during this time that Matt realized his passion for facilitating domestic and international expeditionary learning courses. After accruing over 150 “field weeks” throughout the American West and South America, Matt began teaching at Gonzaga University, where he established the Immersive Outdoor Learning Program. He is thrilled to bring his breadth of experience to SAAS to further promote transformational learning experiences for students through outdoor engagement aligned with academic inquiry. In his spare time, Matt can be found paddling rivers, skiing deep powder, dancing at Phish concerts, and sampling baked goods in the Methow Valley.
