Biography: EJ Renner (she/her) hails from Virginia and thinks of the Blue Ridge mountains as home. She then called upstate New York home as she studied at Cornell University, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and her master’s degree in Systems Engineering. After graduation, she worked as a research engineer at General Electric Research, working on technology from ultrasounds to airplane engines to wind turbines. She loved the engineering work but soon came to realize that her true passion was in education. Last year, she worked as an in-class math and science tutor at Rainier Beach High School. EJ is excited to work at SAAS, starting in 2024, and to discuss the wonders of math and ethics of engineering with her students. When not at work, EJ can be found reading, running, or playing (and winning) board games.
