Biography: Jay is a Pacific Northwest almost-lifer, having spent his early years in London and his college years in San Diego. He grew up primarily in Seattle and returned after college to resettle in the area. He joined the Seattle Academy community in 2025 as a Middle School Dean of Students. Jay studied History at the University of San Diego and earned a Master’s in Teaching from Seattle University. Since 2007, he has worked in independent schools in the region, teaching all three middle school grades and eventually serving as Middle School Director at The Bush School. Most recently, he was the Assistant Head of School at Hyla School on Bainbridge Island beginning in 2023. Jay also attended culinary school and worked as a travel guide, fueling his passion for global cuisine and cultures. A sports fanatic, he continues to play soccer weekly in a local men’s league. His other passions include food, sports, music, outdoor adventures, travel, and most of all, spending time with his three daughters.
