Biography: Ben joined Seattle Academy in 2025 as an 8th Grade English Teacher. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia, he moved to Seattle in the summer of 2025. He earned his degree in History and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia before beginning his teaching career in Memphis, Tennessee. In Memphis, Ben spent three years as a Middle School Special Education teacher, coaching basketball and baseball, before returning to Virginia to teach 8th Grade English, coach debate and baseball, and pilot a program connecting Charlottesville Middle School with local art museums. He also helped create a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring equitable access to youth sports. Outside of school, Ben is an avid reader, a passionate Philadelphia sports fan, and loves exploring Seattle—most often on a bike or on foot with his dog, Barkley.
