Biography:
Jeremy Smith joined Seattle Academy as a long-term substitute Upper School Innovations Teacher in 2026. A Washington State–certified educator, he has taught since 2008 in special education, design thinking, experiential education, and world languages in the United States and in dual-immersion schools in Taiwan.
Since 2016, he has served as a Department Chair and Mandarin teacher in Seattle independent schools and founded Communitea Project, Communitea House, Village Teacher, and Storied Journeys—public–private partnership social enterprises that connect education, community development, and intercultural exchange. He also served as a Lead Instructor and Master Teacher Mentor in the NSA/ODNI-funded STARTALK program, supporting teacher certification, employment, and greater linguistic and cultural representation in Washington public schools.
Outside of school, he enjoys language study, travel, and tea culture.
