Biography: Doug has worked in a variety of schools and education related organizations for over 30 years. Doug earned a BA from Cornell University in 1992, an MA in Education from Columbia University in 1996, and an MBA from the University of Washington in 2007. Prior to joining SAAS in 2001, Doug worked as a physics and math teacher in New York City, a grant facilitator for the Council of Independent Colleges, and a researcher for an education policy think tank at Stanford and the University of California, Berkeley. From 2001 to 2005, Doug worked in the Seattle Academy technology department. During that time he wrote the code for the central registrar database that SAAS used for over a decade. In 2005, Doug left SAAS to pursue an MBA from the University of Washington. After his graduation in 2007, he worked for two years as a loan origination underwriter in a Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities firm. In 2009, Doug returned to SAAS as Assistant CFO and Director of Operations. He has been instrumental in the acquisitions of neighboring real estate and the design and construction of the STREAM Building and the Middle School Building as the school’s internal project manager. In 2019, Doug became the Chief Financial Officer at SAAS and continues to manage the School’s finances.
