Biography:
Fred Strong, Dean of Arts, has been a trusted name in the Seattle Academy community since 1990. He has a deep history with SAAS and has held many roles and titles over the years, including English and History teacher, Head of Middle School, and Dean of Faculty. In 2016, as the school continued to grow and develop more leadership in each of the program areas of the school, Fred had the opportunity to focus on the Visual & Media and Performing Arts departments. The breadth of Fred’s role now includes being on several administrative planning teams, participating in many Admissions events, and assisting with the editing of publications. All of this is in addition to the planning of multiple major schoolwide arts events (such as SAAS’s three End-of-Tri Performances produced every year) with the Department Heads for Visual & Media Arts and Performing Arts. Prior to his time at SAAS, Fred was the Head of Middle School at The Allen-Stevenson School in New York City, and he taught at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA. Outside of school, Fred is an amateur French Hornist, an avid cyclist, and the Director of “Sharing the Stage,” a youth mentorship and music production project that has produced over 30 independent shows in and around Seattle from 2010 to present.
