Biography: George, a native New Yorker and middle school World Languages teacher, earned his BA in African History from Bowdoin College and an MA in Education from Pace University. He began his education career teaching English and History at an all-boys school in New York City in 1990, and in 1994, he joined the Seattle Academy community, where he has taught middle school English, History, Latin, and Foundations of World Languages; coached; and led outdoor trips and trips to the Ancient World. Starting in 2004, George took a fourteen year hiatus from the classroom to serve in the administration, twelve years of which were spent as Head of Middle School. George spends his non-teaching time devouring texts on world history, linguistics, politics, neuroscience, literature, and poetry; designing lessons; cycling; and playing music.
