Sarah Smith joined the Seattle Academy community in 2005, and has spent her time here teaching Study Skills, math, and psychology. She grew up in Oak Ridge, TN, and found her love of rowing during college in Atlanta. When she moved to Seattle in 2001 after finishing her teaching training, she focused on elite rowing and made the US National team three times, including being an alternate at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. After teaching Study Skills for over 10 years, Sarah also started teaching Math. Then, in 2018, she used her BA in psychology from Emory to start the psychology program at SAAS, which now has three classes, a book club, and a community club. Outside of school, she spends her time competing as a masters rower, trail running, coaching collegiate rowing, reading, and backpacking.
