Biography:
Rob joined the Seattle Academy faculty in the Fall of 1991 and shortly after he began leading extended student wilderness trips throughout the American Southwest, Southeast Alaska, Western Canada, and the Alaskan and Canadian Arctic. Rob created the Seattle Challenge Trip; the 11th grade Honors American Studies course; and he taught the school’s first courses in Entrepreneurship. A longtime soccer and track coach, Rob played soccer at Seattle Pacific University and coached the Seattle Academy Girls soccer teams to four state championships. Rob was appointed the Head of School in July 2018.
Broadly educated in anthropology, comparative religion, history, and literature, he earned a Leadership Executive MBA from Seattle University, and serves on numerous community and educational boards. He serves on the Board of Governors of the Northwest Association of Independent Schools (NWAIS), is the Vice Chair of the NWAIS Accreditation Committee, and has served on the boards of the Meridian School and Epiphany School.
Rob's hobbies and interests include gardening, including daffodils, tulips, peonies; reading, mostly biographies, history and sword and sorcery fantasy series; playing Dungeons and Dragons, including a 30-year running game with past and current SAAS faculty members; camping and trips on rivers, to cold places like Alaska, and anywhere there's mountains and water; and whenever possible Seattle Sounders games with the family.
