Biography:
Mark joined Seattle Academy in 2013 and has taught physics, computational thinking, and math courses in the Upper School. Since 2024, he has also served as an instructional coach and AI consultant, helping staff and students understand the impacts of emerging technologies.
Prior to SAAS, Mark grew up in central California and earned a B.S. in Physics from Harvey Mudd College, an M.A. in Philosophy from San Francisco State University, an M.S. in Physics from the University of Rhode Island, and a Ph.D. in Physics from Boston University. He has taught at several high schools and colleges in California, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
Mark is passionate about understanding the natural world and helping students develop both knowledge and the critical thinking and ethical reasoning skills needed to apply it. He has helped develop new Innovations courses that explore both the technical and ethical dimensions of emerging technologies. Outside of SAAS, Mark is a youth soccer coach and referee.
