Biography: Lily Hotchkiss is in her 10th year at SAAS and has over 20 years experience as a teaching artist, and in the spring of 2020, she became our first Department Chair for Visual & Media Arts when SAAS created separate leadership roles for the Visual and Performing Arts. Prior to SAAS, she was a teaching artist with Seattle Public Schools, Urban League, and Pratt, among other schools. In addition, she worked as an early child and parent educator. She founded and ran The Makery, a volunteer-run all ages experimental mobile art project. It is no surprise that throughout this time she has also remained a practicing artist! Lily’s art practice focuses on storytelling, which she does in a myriad of mediums including fiber, paint, found and recycled objects, and mixed media. Lily is part of the arts collective Side Rail in Georgetown, as both an artist and curator with several shows a year.
