Biography: Catherine Klem is in her 6th year at SAAS and 2nd year as the Math Department Chair. Not only has she taught Precalculus, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, and Honors Statistics classes, but she also coached our track and cross country teams for four years. Energetic, compassionate, and kind — Catherine is a joy to work with and learn from. She is an educator, athlete, and traveler, both in her personal life and in her roles at SAAS. She has led dozens of trips including Odyssey, India, Zambia, Senior Canyonlands, and the Baker Backcountry Ski Trip. Prior to SAAS, Catherine taught Aquaponics Research and Applied Mathematics in the Bahamas, where she additionally oversaw the outdoor program and girls residential life. In addition, she helped train students to run half marathons each semester. Catherine also spent time in Colorado teaching math and wilderness education, including taking kids on expeditions like a 10-day winter trip involving snow caves and telemark skiing.
