Biography: Donna joined Seattle Academy in 2019 as an Upper School Spanish Teacher. A Mississippi native, Donna grew up in Portland, Oregon, and graduated from Lewis and Clark College. She has also lived in Iowa City, Iowa where she earned her M.A. in Spanish (Go Hawkeyes!), and in Bloomington, Illinois, where she taught Spanish at Illinois State University. A career opportunity for her husband brought the family to Seattle, and Donna to the University of Washington to teach Spanish and complete her Ph.D. in History of Education. Donna enjoys exercise, cooking for her family, reading, watching sports (particularly the NBA), and she loves to travel. She studied in Spain during college, taught English in Costa Rica after graduation, and has also visited Guatemala, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. She looks forward to traveling abroad with SAAS students as they deepen their understanding of the Spanish language, and Spanish-speaking cultures.
