Alumni Give Back to SAAS Community
This past spring, SAAS TV hosted a presentation about our Innovations program. The evening included a panel discussion with alumni who had gone through the program at Seattle Academy, developed a business plan in that class, and have since successfully launched their own business based on the work they completed in the innovations courses. As a follow up, the alums were also guest speakers in our Spring Innovations courses, providing real-life experience to our current students.
George Eitel, Julien Lewin, and Andrew Westhoff graduated from Seattle Academy in 2016. During their senior year, they took a Business Innovations class that challenged them to identify a problem that needed a solution and develop a business that would address that solution. The result of the project was a business called Manatee Aquatic, a lakefront water-weed removal and dock servicing company launched after they graduated. The company offers two different methods for removing milfoil from lakefront properties as well as dock rejuvenation and cleaning services.
George, Julien, and Andrew are looking for ways to stay connected with the SAAS community including as guest speakers in classes, working with Innovations teachers, and offering the Manatee Aquatic services to the Seattle Academy community. They would then donate 15% of their revenue to Seattle Academy for financial aid. Families who might be in need of their services should contact Julien Lewin.
