After suffering a basketball-related injury at college, former Cardinal basketball player and Seattle Academy alumnus Jujaar Singh ’18 saw the opportunity to tell a meaningful story that was close at heart. He came home for winter break and decided to chronicle the SAAS Boys’ Basketball team on film. Jujaar had attended Film Appreciation and Innovations class at SAAS, which opened his eyes to media production. He had also played on the Cardinal Boys’ Basketball team with the current freshman class, including his brother Teja ’21, and current coach Shaun Burl and assistant coaches Zac Townsend and Ryan Coldren during his junior and senior years. Sharing such close-knit relationships with his brother, the team, coaches, and faculty members allowed Jujaar to capture raw footage — a testament to the team’s trust in his ability to tell the season’s story accurately. Even as Jujaar attends Occidental College, majoring in media, arts, and culture (film production) and minoring in economics, he remains incredibly connected to the SAAS family. Check out the story of adversity, relentlessness, and triumph as Jujaar’s film “Cardinal Boys – A Basketball Film (2021)” follows the Seattle Academy Boys’ Basketball team through their 2021 season.
