Nanda Prabhakar ’95 currently serves as senior vice president of program operations at the New York City Mission Society, one of the nation’s oldest social service organizations. Nanda oversees a portfolio of afterschool, summer camp, workforce development, counseling, and college prep programs that serve thousands of children and young adults throughout New York City.

A Brooklyn, New York resident, Nanda holds a Masters of Public Administration from Baruch College, a Masters of Social Welfare from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College.

Nanda began her social work career in 1999. Prior to joining the Mission Society, she acted as the coordinator of Social Work Services for the Office of the Kings County District Attorney, overseeing and providing an alternative to incarceration programming for Brooklyn youth charged with violent felonies in the juvenile and criminal justice systems.

Nanda's participation and excellence in her field was recognized by her peers as the recipient of the 2018 National Association of Social Workers (NASW) – NYC Chapter “Image Award,” and sits on the board of the Red Hook Initiative, an organization committed to empowering youth and communities to challenge systemic inequities.
