SAAS: 7th Grade Retreat on October 28

7th Grade Retreat on Friday, October 28

Hello 7th-grade families,

We are excited for our first off-campus excursion this month on Friday, October 28 at High Trek Adventures in Everett. This is our first off-campus trip of the 2022-2023 school year as a 7th-grade group. We are really excited for some quality community building and fun! Students will have the opportunity to participate in high and low ropes courses, zip lining, and team-building activities designed by the High Trek Adventures staff.

Students should arrive on campus in the morning at their usual time. We will leave for High Trek Adventures at 9:00 am and load buses at 2:00 to return to campus by 3:00. Students who ride the bus or participate in sports and after-school activities should expect to attend those as normal.

Students will receive more information about this trip during advisory over the next couple of weeks. Below is important information for you and your student to know before heading out on the 4th:

  • Parents/Guardians will need to fill out this electronic waiver by Tuesday, October 25. The electronic waiver is linked here.
  • What students should wear & bring:
    • Clothes you can move in, that can get a little dirty, and that you feel comfortable in outside
    • Closed-toed tennis shoes
    • Rain jacket
    • Water bottle
    • Sack lunch and snacks
  • If your student is feeling sick the morning of, please keep them home.

It will be important to adhere to the expectations of both SAAS Faculty and High Trek Staff during this trip. Students may be asked to take a break or sit out of activities if they are struggling to respect expectations around equipment, listen to instructions, and/or follow safety guidelines while we’re off campus. If your student is having a hard time finding success following safety guidelines, positively participating, or if your student is sick, you should expect to hear from a Coordinator or Dean.

To stay consistent with our expectations around personal tech, students will be leaving their phones and other personal devices safely stored on campus. If you need to connect with your student, please reach out to Alexander Castanes (206-458-2626), Ruth Blinderman (206-861-0923), Ricardo Rivera (206-720-2607), or Achijah Berry (206-861-0942).

If you have any questions about the trip, please reach out to us through email. Thanks!
