SAAS College Advising Letter to 9th and 10th Grades

Greetings from College Advising!

As the year progresses, we write with an update. Please mark your calendars for these events and consider revisiting past events via the recordings linked below.

Save the Date!

The PSAT 10 will be offered on Friday, March 6 at 8:15 AM in the Vanderbilt Building. On-time pre-registration is required

This optional PSAT (practice test) is exclusively for 10th graders and helps prepare for the 11th grade National Merit qualifying exam in October of 11th grade. We offer this test every year and for students who wish to test it is usually the first step in their college testing journey.

Most students take this exam unprepped and use it as a diagnostic test for subsequent testing. After the exam, we send more information about testing next steps. If you have additional questions about testing, please see the link below for a recording of an excellent one-hour testing overview webinar.

Registration for the PSAT 10 is required by January 30 at 3:00 PM. Students are not automatically registered for this exam as one half of the class typically chooses not to take it. In preparation for future College Board exam registrations, late registration is not permitted.

Please visit here for details and registration

Any accommodation requests are due by January 12.

Prospective college athletes of all ages and their families are welcome to attend an athletic recruiting webinar on Thursday, February 5 at 7:00 PM where guest college coaches and college counselors will discuss the athletic recruiting process. Check the Seattle Academy calendar as the event nears for additional information and an access link.

College Advising opens up as many meetings as possible to all interested grade levels. This allows students and families to gain college advising information when they are ready. If you didn’t have a chance to attend our standardized testing webinar, our college financing webinar, or even our October webinar for 11th graders which answered common questions about the process, please find those recordings here.

College Advising is also pleased to offer student-only after school office hours for all grade levels. These occur on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on days when school is in session from 3:00 PM - 3:30 PM in the Upper School 4th Floor Commons. If you or your student has an occasional early college question, suggest to your student that they join us during office hours. Students should please bring any college-related questions about course registration later this winter/spring to College Advising office hours.

For additional questions and information, please visit the 9th grade and 10th grade pages on the Seattle Academy College Advising site

Our team wishes you the best for hopefully a joyful and restorative winter season. We look forward to connecting with you and/or your student at a future event.

Best wishes,

College Advising (collegeadvising@seattleacademy.org)
