Seattle Academy Alumna, Ericka Burke '90 is a renowned Chef and Owner of Volunteer Park Café. Ericka was recently featured on King 5, alongside John Sundstrom of Lark to talk about their event Together Seattle. +TogetherSeattle is a fundraiser benefitting the NW Immigrant Rights Project. The goal of +TogetherSeattle is to give like-minded Seattle restaurants an opportunity to make an impact to keep families together.

+TogetherSeattle all started with a single text message. Ericka shared that she was overwhelmed with what was going on for immigrant families. She sent a text message to chefs in the industry and, "knowing that we are such a tight-knit community that feels the need to do good... One text turned into 100 restaurants."

"Knowing that we are such a tight-knit community that feels the need to do good... One text turned into 100 restaurants."

On November 14th, 2018 140 restaurants committed to donating 10% of their profits to NW Immigration Rights Project. +TogetherSeattle raised $57,230 for Northwest Immigrant Rights Project.

In an interview with Restaurant Hospitality, Ericka says, "We feel like this (+TogetherSeattle) could be a model. There could be +TogetherPortland or a +TogetherNewYork. We feel passionate about handing the torch to other cities." Read Restaurant Hospitality's entire article with Ericka Burke: "Seattle Restaurateurs Launch Program to Support Immigrant Rights".
