Samantha Casne '01, was highlighted on KING 5 News to discuss the "Pink Wave" of women in the 2018 mid-term elections. Broadcast on November 15, Samantha, joined by Cathy Allen, a political consultant, both spoke about historic firsts, changes, and progress that happened this November and what they hope to see in the future.

Samantha is currently the President of the National Women's Political Caucus of Washington, elected in early 2018. She has also been working as a Public Policy Associate for the Washington Education Association for the last five years.

"We saw a lot of historic firsts happen all across the country."

Samantha reminisced on election night and shared, "Election night was a very exciting night. We saw a lot of historic firsts happen all across the country over in the other Washington with record numbers of women getting elected. We saw the first Muslim woman elected, the youngest women to be elected to the United States House... the first Native American woman gets elected."
