Instrumental Music Hosts Jam Sessions at The Royal Room
The vibe and culture of the first Seattle Academy Jam Session at The Royal Room was nothing short of authentic jazz. With the ingredients of a nationally recognized session leader in Jared Hall, an inclusive atmosphere of musical exploration, and one of the top local live music venues in The Royal Room, a fun time was had by all.
The Seattle Academy Instrumental Program is hosting eight jazz jam sessions at The Royal Room during the 2019-20 school year. All are welcome to attend, at any level of access. Whether that’s playing most of the night, or listening and grabbing food from the excellent kitchen, or a combination. A jam session is an unplanned performance where tunes are called and musicians improvise over the chord structures learning and sharing the jazz language.
The final performance on the sessions calendar, on May 19, 2020, will be a formal performance by Seattle Academy Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II on The Royal Room's main stage.
