Congratulations to Micah Shapiro ’21 for winning first place in the dance category of the 2020-21 Discover FAA High School Competitions at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Micah is recognized for Kol Nidre Solo, a contemporary modern dance that he choreographed and performed.

The Illinois College of Fine and Applied Arts (FAA) annual high school arts competitions appeal to students in grades 9 through 12 with outstanding creative capabilities. Categories for the competition include Architecture; Art and Design; Dance; Landscape Architecture; Music; Theatre; and Urban Planning. Participants compete for a scholarship to one of the college’s degree programs or to a summer program. Through these competitions, the University of Illinois challenges students to expand their artistic skills and seeks to inspire a new generation of artists, performers, and designers.
