SAAS Community Celebrates at Fall Mania and Volleyball Fest

On Friday, September 20, Seattle Academy held its annual Fall Mania with another huge community turnout to celebrate the school’s fall athletes.  There were nine soccer games and three Ultimate games taking place on four fields at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila. Besides the twelve on-field contests, all other fall athletes, from cross country, golf, tennis and volleyball, both Middle School and Upper School, were recognized at halftime on the stadium field.

Almost five hundred kids are participating in athletics this fall on a Seattle Academy Athletics record twenty-eight teams.  All were in action in one form or another at #FallMania, either on the field or being introduced at halftime on the stadium field.  The varsity girls’ soccer team ended the night in Starfire Stadium with a 4-2 victory over University Prep.

Again at the center of the Starfire Complex was the “SAAS Village.” Set up in the center concourse, the SAAS Village included booths with SAAS Logowear, the SAAS Parent Association, and a “Player of the Game” tent where pictures of the outstanding player in each game from both teams were taken and an award was given out.

“It was great night to celebrate our fall athletes,” said SAAS Athletic Director Cathy Schick. “We’ve got a record twenty-eight teams this fall, breaking the record set last year. The interest in our athletic program is amazing, and there was great energy by the entire SAAS community.  We look forward to a very exciting and successful season fall season.”

 

After Fall Mania ended, just three days later, SAAS held their annual Volleyball Fest. Taking place in the SAAS gym, the Cardinal community got a chance to see all nine SAAS volleyball teams in action.  The evening was topped off by the girls’ varsity team defeating Forest Ridge in a very close, exciting match.    

“It was a great night for volleyball,” said Cathy.  “We’ve got over 130 girls playing volleyball this fall.  The program is incredibly popular.”
