BASKETBALL

The boys' varsity basketball team closed out the 2020-21 season with one of the best seasons in school history winning the Emerald Sound Conference (ESC) and finishing the year with a 16-1 record (14-1 in the ESC). The Cardinals defeated the Kings 78-56 in the championship game to win the league title.

Senior Leo DeBruhl '21 led the way being named Team MVP, League MVP and 1st-Team All Conference for the third consecutive year. Leo leaves the school as the all-time leader in both points (1,345) and assists (381). He finished off his SAAS career by being named 1st-Team All-State! To top off the year, Head Coach Shaun Burl was named ESC Coach-of-the-Year.

This senior class of Leo, Joe, Teja Singh, Eddie Hulit, and Isaac Allnutt went a combined 61-9 the last three years with three league titles!

The girls’ varsity basketball squad also had a great year and finished strong, winning five of their last six games to advance all the way to the Emerald Sound Conference Championship game before falling to Kings.

Juniors Katie Drais '22 and Faith Tade '22 were both named 1st-Team All-League. Katie was also named Team MVP.

LACROSSE

Led by first-year Head Coach Caldwell Rohrbach, the boys’ lacrosse team went 6-3. The young team graduates just one player, senior goaltender Andy Sadler '21. Jacob Kodjababian '22 was named Team MVP.

WRESTLING

The coed wrestling team, led by coaches Allen and Hank Stein and Martin Brakke, did not compete competitively this season but met every day for workouts and inner-squad competitions.

And finally, a shout-out to our Season 3 seniors! Thank you and good luck as you move forward into the future! Go Cardinals!
