Seattle Academy Dance Faculty Kuroiwa-Schiff's Career Highlighted in SeattleDances
Seattle Academy’s Dance Faculty Anita Kuroiwa-Schiff career was recently spotlighted in SeattleDances. The DanceCrush Spotlight article was written by Seattle Academy alumna, Miranda Chantelois '12, and highlights Anita's career which has spanned over four decades. Anita's contributions include working within many arts institutions such as Black Arts West, Seattle Children’s Theater, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Seattle Contemporary Ballet, Langston Hughes Theatre, and Seattle Central College as well as joining Seattle Academy in 1998.
The article's author states, “While I only had the pleasure of taking Anita’s class for a single trimester during my time in the Seattle Academy dance program, I remember it with distinction. Her stories, energy, and the generosity with which she approached her students made her a joy to take class from – a relatable educator with the crucial tenaciousness of any well-trained dancer. She, along with Rhonda Cinotto and the Seattle Academy dance program as a whole, furthered my love for movement and made a vital impact on my decision to pursue dance performance, writing, and pedagogy at the collegiate and professional levels. All of us at SeattleDances are humbled to honor her with a 2019 DanceCrush Award for Foundational Contributions to Seattle Dance.”
Thank you Anita for your continued contributions to Seattle Academy and Seattle's performing arts community.
