Dance Teacher and Choreographer Nominated for a Regional Emmy™

In 2018, Alicia Mullikin, Seattle Academy's dance teacher was featured in the PBS & KCTS-9 Borders and Heritage, a series that spotlights people of color and their experience in this country. The episode called Los Artistas, featured four Northwest Latin artists including visual artist Juan Alonso-Rodríguez, poet Claudia Castro Luna, folk musician Abel Rocha, and Alicia, a dancer/choreographer. 

On April 12, 2019, Los Artistas was nominated for a National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Northwest Chapter regional Emmy™ in the Arts/Entertainment- Program/Special Category at the upcoming 56th Annual Northwest Regional Emmy Awards. Silver and Gold Circle winners will be announced on June 7.
