Congratulations to our four 2018 Rainier Scholars graduates Jasmine Alvarado-Salinas, Roman Bactol, Peter Nguyen, and Brook Geleta. Peter and Jasmine came to SAAS as 9th graders, while both Brook and Roman started in 2012 as 7th graders.

Seattle Academy has had a long-standing partnership with Rainier Scholars, and including our four 2018 graduates, a total of fifteen scholars attended SAAS in 2017-18. Another ten Rainier Scholars will enter as SAAS students this coming fall.

Founded in 2000, Rainier Scholars offers a pathway to college graduation for low-income students of color by providing access to transformative educational opportunities. Scholars engage in a proven, twelve-year model that brings together the academic preparation, leadership development, and personalized support needed to graduate from a four-year college and become career professionals and leaders in the community. SAAS Teaching and Curricular Coach Drego Little is a long-time staff member at Rainier Scholars serving as the organization’s Learning Support Specialist and Literature/Writing Teacher.

Congratulations to Jasmine, Roman, Peter, Brook, and their families.
