CSO Partners With Survive the Streets to Support the Homeless

The student-led Community Service Organization (CSO) Club partnered with Survive the Streets to help feed and clothe homeless men and women on Thanksgiving morning. A total of seventeen Upper School students arrived at 7:15 AM to serve as personal shoppers for the men and women at the pop-up store in the Galvanize Building of Pioneer Square. In addition to the SAAS sleeping bag and backpack drive and the 175 hygiene kits packed by students at the 10th grade retreat, other items available at the pop-up store included winter coats, sweat shirts, socks, hats, and gloves.

What started as a random act of altruism has grown into an annual event where roughly 300 homeless and low-income people get to pick out brand new coats, mittens, backpacks and socks, with the help of students from the Seattle Academy acting as personal shoppers. -Real Change News
