Thursday, October 11, was the thirtieth anniversary of National Coming Out Day, a day to celebrate and underscore the power of sharing our identities as people in the LGBTQIA+ community and as allies. The SAAS Middle School and Upper School Queer-Straight Alliances (QSAs) hosted a party in the new Middle School Building celebrating this day with food, dancing, and celebration! Students made "pronoun crowns," festive wear that shows a person's preferred gender pronouns. Those who wanted to share had a space to come out and be affirmed in their identities. Over forty students attended this student-led celebration, some of whom are pictured here.
