A Bloody Good Event for a Charitable Cause: Upper School SAAS Students Donate to Bloodworks Northwest!
In late February, our community-focused students held a successful blood drive on campus with Bloodworks Northwest. This blood drive occurred prior to activating our extended closure and remote learning plan and Washington state's shelter-in-place to slow the transmission of Coronavirus-COVID 19. You can still safely donate life-saving blood by appointment only by visiting Bloodworks Northwest.

The Seattle Academy Community Engagement Organization (CEO) recently partnered with Bloodworks Northwest for a student blood drive. The drive, held on Thursday, February 27, was a huge success. The event took place in front of the Seattle Academy Arts Center, where the mobile donation center was parked. In total, twenty-nine Upper School students turned out! Unfortunately, four of those students were deferred from donating, but we and Bloodworks Northwest still greatly appreciate their time and effort. Twenty-one of the remaining twenty-five participants were first time donors. At the end of the day, Bloodworks Northwest collected twenty-five pints of blood. This blood will go to help up to seventy-five people in the Seattle area in the next few weeks.
Thank you to @BloodworksNW and our students in the Community Engagement Organization who helped to coordinate today's Blood Drive on campus. #GiveBlood https://t.co/APR6nLhKww pic.twitter.com/aYVhPtd46A
