For 9th Grade
On behalf of Seattle Academy College Advising, hello 9th graders and families!
In 9th Grade, students transition to Seattle Academy upper school, ideally engaging in the life of the school, finding their academic footing, and exploring new curiosities. The ideal focus during this time is fostering a foundation for the rest of high school.
At this time, families sometimes have questions about the following which are covered in our FAQ:
- Recommendations for 9th graders and their families
- How the college process works at Seattle Academy
- Course choices
- Testing Context and Next Steps (fall 2023)
This Pre-College Advising Suggestions document has additional ideas gained from our many years’ experience working with upper school students.
Beyond these resources, once you and your family are well settled in the upper school, know that we will answer questions in time but also don’t hesitate to email College Advising if you don’t find in the FAQ the answers to questions you have. While it is wise during 9th grade for students to focus on one’s broader Seattle Academy life, our office will ensure you get your questions answered. Note that in Fall 2023, all interested upper school families are invited to the 11th grade family/student meeting in October (see calendar widget below). While the focus of this meeting is on 11th graders and their families, curious 9th and 10th grade families may find its information helpful.
