All-School Speaking Events. We bring in experts from the community to educate parents on trending topics and emerging research relating your child’s social emotional development during middle & high school.
Parent Education Forums. These forums are more intimate gatherings or “learning workshops”, designed to promote idea sharing among parents. Each forum begins with a presentation from the SAAS Social and Emotional Development curriculum. Following this segment, an outside expert from the community will present a topic. Parents are invited to gather in grade level groupings and share ideas, allowing space for grade-specific discussions. Topics may run the full gamut of parenting issues, including but not limited to: friendships/relationships, stress and anxiety, technology and social media, college preparation, substance use, parent-child communication, etc.
Grade Level Coffees. Facilitate discussions between parents and SAAS faculty & staff.
Strategic Partnership with SAAS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Department. SPAR²C (SAAS Parents for Awareness, Race Relations and Community) serves as a learning space for SAAS parents of all backgrounds to discuss matters of race and equity. Our discussions are centered around multimedia resources as current events that impact the SAAS community, our region and country. We explore a wide range of topics and always approach discussion through the lens of race and our roles as parents and community members. We encourage listening and sharing rather than instruction as we work together to build a stronger and more cohesive SAAS community. For more information visit https://padlet.com/meg32/6380hso64f7o
