Rhetoric
The Seattle Academy Department of Rhetoric thrives at the intersection of high-level academics and the Culture of Performance. Fundamentally, the program provides to all students the foundational skills of Rhetoric, of writing and speaking persuasively. These skills are necessary for the development of responsible citizenship and essential in the professional world.
All Seattle Academy students take a trimester of rhetoric in 7th and 9th grades after which students have opportunities to practice their public speaking, argumentation, and presentation skills across all courses and grades. Beyond required coursework, SAAS students participate in and excel at State and National levels in a range of rhetoric extra-curricular activities.
Seattle Academy has Speech and Debate teams, a competitive Ethics Bowl and Mock Trial teams. Students are actively involved with Youth Legislature.
