Middle School Trips 2019-20
July 18 - July 31
(may change slightly due to transportation scheduling)
Trip Information Meeting:
Tuesday, November 5, 6 PM, STREAM Building
The group will start out at Lake Laberge just outside of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory. Students will spend their first few days orienting themselves with the canoes, going on day paddles and helping organize trip gear and food. A few days in, the group will set out across the lake and start to make their way down the Yukon River. The group will travel roughly 150 miles before pulling out in the town of Carmacks. While on the river, students will be setting up tents, cooking for themselves in small groups, and are responsible for taking care of personal as well as group gear. In camp(s), students will have the opportunity to fish, play games, hang out by the fire, journal, reflect in group discussions, as well as the chance for a few day hikes. Opportunities to see moose, bear, eagles, porcupines, beaver, and explore a piece of the Yukon River that played such an integral part in the Klondike Gold Rush.
