A planned gift is a charitable donation arranged during a donor’s lifetime, leaving some or all of their estate to a cause they care about. For Seattle Academy, that might mean:
- Naming Seattle Academy as a charitable beneficiary in your will with a short statement like this:
“I, [name], hereby give, devise and bequeath to Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences, an educational nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation located at 1201 East Union Street in Seattle, Washington, for its unrestricted educational purposes…[xx] percent of my taxable estate…or the sum of [$xx.00]…or all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate after specified obligations, taxes and expenses have been paid.”
- Designating Seattle Academy as an owner or beneficiary of a life insurance policy or retirement plan.
- Donating real estate or land to Seattle Academy, either giving it outright or retaining the use of it during your lifetime.
A planned gift can help you achieve your philanthropic objectives as well as your tax and financial goals. Most importantly, however, when you make a planned gift to Seattle Academy, you are leaving the school a legacy that will have an impact on future generations of SAAS students.
A planned gift does not have to be complicated, but it does require careful consideration. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about planned giving at SAAS.
Please let us know if Seattle Academy is a beneficiary in your will so we can share our appreciation with you.
